It doesn’t get much cuter than this county fair-themed 2nd birthday at Blackberry Farm in Aurora. This was the very first event I did with Amanda back in summer of 2019. My other favorite cake designer (MK) was out of town the month of this party so I went in search of another great baker that could live up to me and my client Stephanie’s culinary and design expectations. Luckily for everyone, we found that in Amanda…and that is how our SWEET friendship began!
Another fun fact: this party also randomly fell on the hottest day of the year which you could never tell by looking at these amazing photos!
I planned this party with one of my favorite clients (Stephanie) for months and we came up with some really great ideas for it! We had a huge spread of county fair-inspired food, a “prize-winning” photo backdrop, farm animal pet adoption favors, and gingham picnic table linens with cheerful centerpieces.
Stephanie and I had a lot of special requests for baker Amanda: We needed a farm-themed smash cake with an edible piglet AND a large variety of custom cupcake flavors that were inspired by some county fair favorites.
I made some paper bunting and flag toppers to add to the smash cake as well as a flavor menu and little cupcake toppers so guests knew what each county fair cupcake flavor was! Flavors included cotton candy, kettle corn, lemon shake up and of course vanilla and chocolate. I am not sure if I had a favorite, but I remember I tried at least 3 of them….but that was okay because it was the hottest day of the year, I worked and attended the party so I likely burned all those calories off 😉
Bravo to Stephanie for picking the venue, Blackberry Farm, because it was the absolute best choice for this party theme! It has a petting zoo, carousel, pony rides, train, paddle boats, playground and so much more! It was really like being at a kid-sized county fair!
Happy Planning! XOXOXO, Kristen
