When you have brown bananas, don’t just make banana bread. Make this amazing Cinnamon Crunch Banana Bread! If you’ve been following us for awhile now, then you know I like a bit of crunch in just about all of my desserts. And the topping on this bread is sweet and crunchy and so so good!

I love to make this bread and wrap it up with brown parchment paper and a fall colored ribbon and give it as a gift. There is nothing better than receiving a homemade baked good from a friend. You know that their love was put into it and they spent their time getting it perfect just for you. ❤

To make this bread perfect, first combine all of the wet ingredients with the sugar and mix until well combined. Next, add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. To get a soft bread that melts in your mouth, be sure not to overmix. We don’t want to produce a lot of gluten or you’ll end up with chewy bread.

To get that unbelievably good cinnamon crunch topping, it really is super easy. Mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter and salt with a fork or your fingers and then sprinkle over the top of the dough before baking. Use room temperature butter and dark brown sugar.

Cinnamon Crunch Banana Bread

  • 3 Medium Bananas

  • Eggs 2

  • Vegetable Oil 80g
    (1/3 cup)

  • Sour Cream 80g
    (1/3 cup)

  • Vanilla 1 tsp

  • Sugar 160g
    (2/3 cup)

  • All Purpose Flour 280g
    (1 3/4 cups)

  • Cornstarch 2 Tbsp

  • Cinnamon 2 tsp

  • Baking Powder 1 1/2 tsp

  • Salt 1 tsp

  • Crumb Topping (recipe follows)


  • Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease or spray a 9×5 loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the bananas, eggs, oil, sour cream, vanilla and sugar. Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  • Prepare the crumb topping (recipe below) and sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in the middle comes out clean.


  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream.

  • In a small bowl, combine 75g all purpose flour (1/2 cup), 100g dark brown sugar (1/2 cup), 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt and 57g softened butter (1/4 cup).
  • Mix with a fork until combined and now clumps of flour or sugar remain.
